Harpers Ferry Lane

Harpers Ferry Lane is the street where Jon, Ro & Dana Reddick currently live. They moved there in June 2007.

Address

4734 Harpers Ferry Lane
Jacksonville, Florida 32257

Move-In

Prior to moving to Lucky Debonair, the Reddicks lived in their own home on Lucky Debonair Trail in Tallahassee. When Jon accepted a new job in Jacksonville, Florida in required that the family relocate.

Notable Events

  • The passing of family pet, Cassie
  • The passing of family pet, Londen
  • Streets of water
On October 2-3, 2007, Jacksonville received record amounts of rainfall after a rather long period of very little rain. As a consequence, the retention pond behind the subdivision where the house on Harpers Ferry sat could not handle the volume of rain, and it overflowed into the streets.

General Impressions

When Jon first accepted the new job in Jacksonville he lived in an efficiency apartment by himself while Ro & Dana where still back in Tallahassee, so he had to find a rental home quickly. The first time Ro & Dana saw the house was the day they moved in.

The house, owned by Robert Street, was built in the 80's and generally has poor insulation, meaning it is quite difficult to keep cool in the Florida summer. The Reddicks installed window unit air conditioners in opposite ends of the house to help fight the heat.

Move-Out

At the time of this writing they still reside there. Plans are to purchase a home in Jacksonville in the coming year.

Trivia

The name, "Harpers Ferry," is a reference to Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, the site of the historic Battle of Harpers Ferry fought September 12-15, 1862 during the American Civil War.
