A good Ironing Movie is one with a lot of action or comedy, a straighforward plot, an absence of intricate dialog, an abundance of effects and/or sight gags, and preferably the possibility of an occasional bizarre or violent death (especially being eaten by something). In other words, a movie that is entertaining without commanding too much attention, since you have to divide your attention between the film and ironing. A run time of about the time it takes you to iron a week's worth of laundry is also helpful.
Origin
The concept of the Ironing Movie was invented by Debbie McNulty of Clan McNulty. It is her favorite way to occupy her time while ironing. As she started watching movies while ironing more and more, an entire genre of Ironing Movies was culled from the clan's extensive DVD Library.
Usage
The term has evolved to describe any movie meeting the above criteria, regadless of whether or not Debbie has actually watched it while ironing. While shopping for movies, or when seeing a commercial for a movie, any clan member may now call attention to a film and say, "That would be a good Ironing Movie."
Examples
