'''Opper-J''' was the ''[[USS Khai Tam|Khai Tam]]'' nickname for John Opper.  Members of the club who were particularly active or noteworthy generally were given (or adopted) nicknames.

==Origin==
At the time John joined the ''Khai Tam'', there were already at least four members named John, most notably Captain [[Jon Reddick]].  Looking to avoid confusion between the similar names, crew members had long since taken to awarding nicknames to any other member named John.  The nickname Opper-J was easily derived simply from reading a last name, first initial list of ship members.
